1. 42 Million Americans Will Travel for 4th of July
AAA is predicting more than 42 million Americans will travel this 4th of July -- nearly 5 percent more than last year -- and 84 percent of them will be hitting the road. The current national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.33, down 22 cents from a year ago.
2. 'God Particle' Discovered?
A team of physicists at the world's biggest atom smasher says it has found evidence of the "God" particle, which looks like the one believed to give all matter in the universe size and shape.
3. 9 Injured After Fireworks Explosion
A fireworks explosion at a 4th of July celebration at a home in New Hampshire left at least nine people injured, including three children. Crews and at least one helicopter rushed to the scene after neighbors heard several blasts and saw smoke.
4. Over-the-Counter HIV Test Approved
The Food and Drug Administration has approved the first over-the-counter HIV test. People can now test themselves at home and learn the preliminary results in less than 30 minutes.
5. Hot Dog Champs Return to Coney Island
The two defending champion eaters met Tuesday for an official weigh-in ahead of New York's annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest. Joey Chestnut -- who is vying to break his current record of 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes -- and Sonya Thomas will compete in the contest on Brooklyn's Coney Island today.
