Active weather will continue East of the Continental Divide on Monday as disturbances push into the Upper Midwest and Northeast, and hot and humid weather conditions persist throughout much of the region.
In the North, a wave of low pressure and associated warm front will move eastward from the Northern Plains into the Upper Great Lakes by Monday night. As this system progresses it will meet with weak instability and produce showers and thunderstorms from parts of North Dakota through northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
In the East, showers and thunderstorms will pick up across the Northeast as a cold front from the north pushes through the region. This system is expected to dissipate by Monday evening. Meanwhile, flow circulating around high pressure in the western Atlantic Ocean will spread moisture across the Florida Peninsula and northward out of the Gulf of Mexico from the Gulf Coast States to the northern Mid-Atlantic. This moist flow combined with energy and daytime heating will lead to areas of scattered showers and thunderstorms from the Gulf Coast through the Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic.
In the West, a low dropping down the west coast of Canada into the Pacific Northwest will bring bringing a cooler conditions and possible showers and thunderstorms to areas from the Pacific Northwest through the Northern Rockies. Finally, southwesterly flow will spread monsoonal moisture across the Four Corners. This will translate into areas of rain and chances of thunderstorms in the Southwest, Central Great Basin, and Southern and Central Rockies. Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of 35 degrees at Truckee-Tahoe, Calif. to a high of 105 degrees at Pierre, S.D.
