The owner of a topless club has pleaded guilty to trying to hire a hit man to kill a suburban North Texas mayor and a city attorney.
Ryan Walker Grant of Kennedale entered the plea before U.S. District Judge John McBryde on Thursday.
The 34-year-old Grant faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 28.
Authorities said Grant directed the failed plot to kill Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck and attorney Tom Brandt because of a dispute over his club, Flashdancer Cabaret.
The city has called the club a nuisance, linking it to drugs and prostitution. Grant agreed to close the club for a year last January, but the city has since sought to close it permanently by revoking its license.
