A Pennsylvania fire station had its gas service shut off for several hours because it was behind on its bill.
Scranton fire union President John Judge says UGI shut off the gas to the Engine 2 fire station Thursday. A shutoff notice left at the station said the bill was $1,550 in arrears. The building relies on natural gas for heat and hot water.
Fire Chief Tom Davis says a check was mailed Wednesday.
Scranton has been in a fiscal crisis since spring, unable to fully pay bills because of its inability to borrow money to cover a budget deficit.
UGI spokesman Joseph Swope says the company does not comment on customer accounts.
