New York City police say a man long considered the prime suspect in the disappearance of a 6-year-old boy decades ago has been released from a Pennsylvania prison but immediately rearrested because he gave authorities an invalid address for where he'd be staying.

Jose Antonio Ramos was taken into custody Wednesday by Pennsylvania state police and New York City police.

Police say he told them he would live at his cousin's home in the Bronx but no apartment there is registered to him or his cousin. The cousin tells police she moved and won't let Ramos live with her.

Ramos has been suspected in the disappearance of Etan Patz (AY'-tahn payts), who vanished May 25, 1979. He has denied any involvement. Another man has since been arrested.

Ramos served more than 20 years on unrelated child molestation cases.
