The president of the Asian Shooting Federation apologized today after a song from the movie "Borat" was played at a medal ceremony instead of the real national anthem of Kazakhstan, a team member said.

"[He] personally apologized to us. He recognized that the use of the music from the scandalous film in place of the anthem of Kazakhstan was completely a mistake of the organizers. He explained that the awards ceremony was conducted by a firm under contract," Kazakh shooting team member Oksana Stavitskaya told ITAR-TASS.

Standing atop a podium at the Arab Shooting Championships in Kuwait with a gold medal Thursday, Maria Dmitrienko, a shooter from Kazakhstan, was ready to bask in her achievement, but instead of her country's national anthem the movie satire version played.

Dmitrienko's face reddened, but she remained poised throughout the song, which includes lyrics such as: "Kazakhstan's prostitutes cleanest in the region, except of course Turkmenistan's."

A similar incident happened earlier this month at the beginning of a ski festival when a few seconds of Ricky Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca" played instead of the Kazakh national anthem.
