Law enforcement agents have swarmed the home of a reputed Connecticut mobster who authorities believe has information on an infamous unsolved art heist in Boston.

The Hartford Courant ( http://cour.at/JzRIHJ ) reports that dozens of law enforcement agents are at 75-year-old Robert Gentile's (JEN'-tyle) house in Manchester on Thursday morning removing evidence from the home and digging in the yard. Officials also had ground-penetrating radar.

Gentile is detained on federal drug and weapons charges.

A federal prosecutor said in March the FBI believes Gentile had some involvement with stolen property related to the 1990 heist at Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Gentile's lawyer denied the accusation. Thieves stole masterworks by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Degas and Manet worth more than a half billion dollars.

A U.S. attorney's office spokesman declined to comment.
