Case Against Ex-Houston Officer to Go to Jury
May 15th 2012, 13:31

A jury is to begin deliberations in the trial of a former Houston police officer accused of participating in the videotaped beating of a 15-year-old burglary suspect.

Closing arguments are scheduled for Tuesday in the trial of Andrew Blomberg. The former officer has told the Harris County jury that he didn't mistreat the teen, insisting he never kicked or stomped on his head or neck as prosecutors have alleged.

Blomberg testified that he only used his foot to move and secure Chad Holley's arm during the March 2010 daylight arrest after the suspect tried to flee from police who were investigating a break-in.

A federal lawsuit that Holley filed against Blomberg, the other fired officers and the city of Houston is pending.
