After Sandy Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano announced late Wednesday that she will travel to Connecticut today. Napolitano will meet with state and local officials there and view the ongoing response and recovery efforts in light of Sandy. 2. Sandy Death Toll Hits 74 At least 74 people have been killed after Sandy battered the tri-state area on Monday night. 3. View Full Size Con Edison restored power to parts of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn on Wednesday. More than 5 million people are still without power. 4.Gov. Christie, Obama Tour N.J. Flood Zone President Obama toured New Jersey's flood zone with Governor Chris Christie on Wednesday. Christie, one of Governor Romney's biggest backers, praised the president for his handling of the storm, just five days before what could be one of the closest presidential races in recent history. 5. Researchers at NYU Scramble to Save Work Researchers at NYU Langone Medical Center scrambled to salvage years of medical research into cancer, heart disease and other illnesses that have been put in jeopardy after Sandy. After generators there failed, the Manhattan hospital was forced to evacuate some 300 patients.
