The accident happened in Jefferson County shortly after 8 a.m. Thanksgiving morning on Interstate 10 between Taylor Bayou and Hampshire Road. There was reportedly dense fog in the area at the time of the initial crash. An 18-wheeler tanker truck began leaking after the chain-reaction accident, KBMT reported. The westbound lanes of I-10 are now open and eastbound lanes will be closed for at least another eight hours.
