More than 200,000 strollers made by Peg Perego were recalled this week because of a serious strangulation hazard, which caused the death of a six-month-old boy in 2004. Another line of strollers, made by Kolcraft, were recalled because of faulty wheels. Other recalls included a line of security lights because of wiring issues.

STROLLERS
DETAILS: Peg Perego's Venezia and Pliko-P3 strollers made between Jan. 2004 and Sept. 2007. They were sold at various retailers from Jan. 2004 through Sept. 2010. The model number is located on a white label on the back of the Pliko P-3's stroller seat and on the Venezia stroller's footboard. "Peg Perego" and "Venezia" or "Pliko-P3" are printed on the side of the strollers. Only strollers with a child tray and one cup holder are part of the recall.
The model numbers for Pliko-P3 strollers involved in the recall include: IPFR28US34, IPFT28NA63, IPFT28NA64, IPP328MU10, IPP328MU09, IPP328US09, IPP328US10, IPP329US10, IPPA28US32, IPPA28US33, IPPA28US34, IPPD28NA34, IPPF28NA32, IPPF28NA57, IPPF28NA65, IPPF28NA66, IPPF28NA67, IPPF28NA68, IPPO28US32, IPPO28US34, IPPO28US62, IPPO28US69, IPPO28US70, and IPPO28US71. The model numbers for Venezia strollers include: IPVA13MU09, IPVA13MU10, IPVA13US09, IPVA13US10, IPVA13US32, IPVA13US34, IPVC13NA32, and IPVC13NA34.

Close WHY: Entrapment and strangulation can take place, particularly among those younger than a year old, when the child is not harnessed into the stroller. If unharnessed, children can pass through the opening between the tray and the seat bottom and the child's neck and head can become trapped by the tray.
INCIDENTS: A six-month-old boy from Tarzana, Calif. died of strangulation in a stroller in 2004, while a seven-month-old girl from New York was nearly strangled in 2006.

STROLLERS
DETAILS: Contours Options LT tandem strollers imported by Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. with model number ZT012. The model number and date of manufacture are printed on a label found on the rear leg of the stroller. They were sold at Burlington Coat Factory and juvenile product specialty stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Target.com and other online retailers between Feb. 2012 and July 2012.
WHY: The front wheel assembly can break, posing a fall hazard to the child in the stroller. In addition, for strollers made in January and February of 2012, the nuts that hold the stroller's basket support screws in place can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
INCIDENTS: Six reports of front caster wheels breaking and two reports of the basket's support screws and nuts detaching. No injuries have been reported.

SECURITY LIGHTS
DETAILS: HeathCo Zenith 270 motion security lights with model number SL-5414-WH. They were sold at Home Depot stores from Sept. 2011 through April 2012.
WHY: Internal wiring can be damaged during installation, bulb replacement, or adjustment, posing an electric shock hazard.
INCIDENTS: None reported.
