1. Average Gas Price Highest Ever
The price of gas was the highest ever heading into a holiday weekend this Labor Day, partially because of Hurricane Isaac which forced oil refineries on the Gulf Coast to close. According to the AAA, the average price of a regular gallon of gas on Friday was $3.83, 21 cents higher than a year ago.
2. Obama Visits Area Hit by Isaac
President Obama visited the hurricane zone in St. John the Baptist Paris, just outside of New Orleans late Monday. He spoke with local officials, viewed recovery efforts and made a statement explaining the government's role in the crisis following Hurricane Isaac.

3. Blaze Battled at National Forest Near LA
About 400 firefighters are working to battle an out-of-control wild fire that broke out in the Angeles National Forest, northeast of Los Angeles, over the weekend. The fire broke out two days ago near a campground, forcing thousands of people to be evacuated.
4. Closing Arguments in Drew Peterson Trial Begin
Closing arguments in the Drew Peterson trial will begin this morning. It is expected the jury will get the case in the early afternoon. Peterson is charged with murdering his wife in 2004.
5. Prince Harry Makes First Appearance Since Scandal
Prince Harry made his first public appearance since nude photos of him surfaced weeks ago, addressing the crowd at the WellChild Awards in London on Monday. Harry is a patron of the charity event.
