1. Gunman Commits Suicide at Uconn After Firearm Scare

A gunman at the University of Connecticut's Avery Point Campus has committed suicide after police tried to subdue him with bean bags, ABC News affiliate WTNH reports. The UCONN Police Department released a statement overnight following reports that the man was threatening to harm himself with a firearm. They said that the man was found in a remote location on campus and alone and that officers were attempting to negotiate for his surrender.

2. Holmes' Mother Learned Son is Shooting Suspect From Media

The mother of James Holmes did not know her son was believed to be the gunman who killed 12 people in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado until she was contacted by a reporter at her San Diego home hours after the incident, according to the family's attorney Lisa Damiani. Damiani declined to say whether Holmes' parents were surprised but said they will stand by their son.

3. Fight Breaks Out at 'Dark Knight Rises' Screening

Police say no one was arrested when a fight broke out during a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in the Pittsburgh area on Sunday. Police were called into the theater when patrons ran out because they were "jumpy" in the wake of the Aurora, Colorado shooting. Two people suffered minor injuries but nobody was charged.

4. Police Called to Jackson Family Home

Los Angeles police were called to Katherine Jackson's California mansion on Monday for a family disturbance and took a battery report for a physical disturbance between two people. No arrest was made.

5. Submarine Radio Signal Affects Garage Doors

A radio signal coming out of a submarine base is the likely cause of several reports of garage doors failing to open and close in southern Connecticut, according to the U.S. Navy. The signal is used by military to coordinate responses with civil emergency workers.
