Obama's intentional or accidental slip?

Politically Foul

Politics: it's not a game, exactly. But there are rules, and when you break them you are running….Politically Foul!

You know George Romney. You also know his son Mitt. Both were governors. Both wanted to be president. But only one is on the ticket this year. For President Obama, that can be a hard fact to remember.

While addressing a crowd at a New York fundraiser, Obama said, "Not going back to a set of policies that say you're on your own.  And that's essentially the theory of the other side.  George Romney -- wrong guy. Governor Romney."

So close Mr. President, you were just one generation off. Next time, check the roster.

Celebrities love to be around Obama. And, Obama loves celebrities. But, sometimes it can get a bit….awkward.  Sure, Obama can dance with Ellen DeGeneres. And Michelle Obama can challenge Ellen to a push-up competition. But, when it comes down to it: Team Obama is intact.

Obama gave a shout out to Ellen, "I want to thank my wonderful friend who accepts a little bit of teasing about Michelle beating her in pushups, but I think she claims Michelle didn't go all the way down. That's what I heard."

The man is right to pick his wife.

"I just want to set the record straight, Michelle outdoes me in pushups as well. So she shouldn't feel bad."

We just hope he did it after she gave him her campaign check!

Meanwhile on Capitol Hill, Senator Chuck Grassley was having a good old colloquy about the federalist papers when a ringing cell phone interrupted him. Problem was: it was HIS cell phone. After a brief time out to find the silence button, Grassley eventually got back in the game.

Those are the politically plays we flagged this week. Tell us your best and worst moments and we'll survey the field again next week.
