1. La. Evacuating 3000 Residents as Isaac Dumps Rain
The state of Louisiana has sent dozens of buses and high-water vehicles to assist in evacuating about 3,000 people from St. John the Baptist Parish â€" about 30 miles west of New Orleans -- after Tropical Storm Isaac. At 8 p.m. on Wednesday night about 1,500 people had been evacuated and another 1,500 more were expected to leave their homes to escape the flood waters.
2. Paul Ryan Fires Up RNC
Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan fired up the crowd at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night and promising that Mitt Romney will solve the nation's economic woes. Ryan told the crowd that Romney will not "duck the tough issues" if he is elected president.

3. 100-year-old Motorist Hits 11
A 100-year-old driver backed his car onto a sidewalk across from an elementary school in Los Angeles and hit 11 people â€" including 9 children â€" just after class ended. Four of the children were in critical condition but are expected to survive.
4. Foordbone Illness Sickens 100 Across 16 States
Federal health officials are investigating a foodborne illness that has sickened more than 100 people in at least 16 states. The outbreak has been linked to salmonella-tainted mangoes. Authorities are trying to determine which brands or sources are tied to the illness. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 78 of the cases were reported in California.
5. Economy Expands in July, August
The U.S. economy expanded at a moderate pace during the months of July and August because of stronger retail sales, according to the Federal Reserve. The Fed report credited a boost in tourism for buoying despite the fact that manufacturing was described as generally weaker.
