FAMU Keeps Interim President After Hazing Scandal
Aug 15th 2012, 15:28

Florida A&M University is keeping its interim president as it searches for a permanent leader and tries to rebuild its image after a culture of hazing was uncovered.

Trustees on Wednesday officially confirmed Larry Robinson as interim president. Robinson is the school's provost. He was named interim president last month during an emergency meeting. Trustees wanted to confirm him at a face-to-face meeting.

Robinson will be paid $325,000 a year. He will not be able to apply for the permanent spot.

Robinson replaces James Ammons. He abruptly resigned amid the fallout from the hazing death of a marching band member.

Eleven FAMU band members face felony hazing charges, while two others face misdemeanor counts in the hazing of drum major Robert Champion. They have pleaded not guilty.
