The daughter of a prominent investment banker and former New York City budget director was found dead from a slash wound Monday in an apartment building on the city's Lower East Side, the New York Police Department said today.
Carlisle Brigham, 29, was found unresponsive in the stairwell of the building after police received a call to 911 around 11 a.m., according to the NYPD.
Brigham had suffered a fatal wound to her neck and was declared dead shortly after arriving at Beth Israel hospital, officials said.
Brigham was staying in the apartment of a male friend at the time of her death, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Watch Video The NYPD would not comment on the identity of the man with whom Brigham was staying.
Police confirmed to ABC News today that a fall down a flight of marble stairs might have also contributed to her death, although they said the investigation is ongoing.
Autopsy results are expected around 2 p.m. today, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
Brigham is the daughter of James Brigham, who served as the New York City budget director and head of the city's Public Development Corp. in the 1970s and 1980s, and is now an investment banker in St. Louis.
James Brigham and his wife, Holly, did not return calls for comment today from ABC News.
Brigham married Champalimaud, a vice president of a hotel firm, in August 2011 at a boarding school near Newport, R.I., that Champalimaud had attended, according to a wedding announcement in The New York Times.
Brigham worked at the American Museum of Natural History from 2007 until April.
